Why car finance and car insurance
The site started from a practical problem. When Nimra tried to understand how UK car finance products such as PCP and hire purchase work, and how comprehensive insurance differs from collision cover, the guides she found were shallow, written to earn a commission, or written in dense regulatory language. She began writing clearer versions for herself, and then for the readers who found them useful.
MoneyMentorDesk now covers three topics only: car finance in the US, car finance in the UK, and car insurance.
How articles are researched and checked
- Every article starts from the primary source: the statute on legislation.gov.uk for UK car finance, the CFPB and lenders’ own published terms for US car loans, and the NAIC and state insurance regulators for car insurance.
- Legal and regulatory statements are attributed to the body that published them, with a link. Rules that apply only in one state are labelled as such.
- Figures in worked examples are recalculated independently before publication and labelled as illustrative.
- If a source cannot be accessed or verified, the claim is left out rather than guessed.
- Articles are drafted with the help of AI tools. Nimra checks the claims against their sources and approves each article before it is published.
